(Our U12 team after their blitz in Charleville last Sunday)

Senior: The inclement weather of the past week unfortunately caused havoc with the scheduled rugby for our senior teams last weekend. The scheduled Energia AIL fixture with Ballymena RFC was postponed and will now be played on Saturday March 9th. This means the team’s next fixture will be against Old Crescent, who had an impressive bonus point victory over Banbridge RFC last Saturday, on March 2nd. That win has Old Crescent in fourth place, firmly back in the promotion hunt and means the game will be anything easy for Nenagh who will go in to it short on match sharpness. Further details of the fixture will follow next week.

There will however be a chance for the extended squad to stay sharp in a highly competitive environment as the second XV take on Skibbereen RFC this Sunday in the third round of the prestigious Munster Junior Cup at the West Cork venue. With the home side plying their trade in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League this will be a big test of the Nenagh team’s ambitions. With a number of senior players still eligible for selection though Nenagh will hope to pust the Cork side all the way. Kickoff in Cork is at 2pm and any travelling support would be hugely appreciated.

U14: Nenagh Ormond under 14s played Garryowen on Sunday last in UL. Nenagh knew going into this game it was going to be a formidable task and indeed it turned out that way. Garryowen came out of the traps early and ran in a good few tries taking advantage of the fast, 4G surface. Nenagh gave their opponents too much space and time with which they excelled. Nenagh got to the break after the first third with heads low but in fairness to them they kept plugging away and won the second third. Tries were scored by James O Dwyer and Aidan Stead with one conversion added. The final third was Nenaghs as they ran in 5 unanswered tries by Scott Powell (2), Luke Slattery, Donagh Carmody and Anluan White. The result didn’t go our way but the players showed great resilience by keeping going until the final whistle. Training continues Wednesday evening

U12: The u12s had an early start on the road Sunday morning, heading to Charleville for a blitz hosted by Charleville RFC. We had 2 teams on the day to play Charleville RFC who also fielded 2 teams, Ballina/Killaloe RFC & Thomond RFC.

We put on a great display of rugby, with some great tries and running rugby. Thanks to Charleville RFC for hosting us.

Split the Bucket: Congratulations to our most recent winner, Kevin Ryan. Our Split the Bucket Draw continues to hand out a minimum of €500 in prize money every week. This is our main fundraiser and supports the work of the club at all age levels. Go to nenaghormondrfc.com/products to enter and be in with a chance to win our next weekly jackpot.
